I saw this whilst looking for some new coils to try and I just had to buy them! OK, the fact that they were less than £4.00 for a box of 50 helped my decision making but hey, who doesn't love a bargain? Plus, they have little plastic bits on the ends like shoelaces. They're called "aglets" apparently. Who knew? The only question now though is, just how much of a "bargain" was it? Or do I stick with my regular Cotton Bacon V2? Wait, that's 2 questions? Ah well, read on my fellow fluffy lovers and let's find out.

Shoe Laces!

So, I decided that the best way to test these shoelaces was to try side by side with my regular go to stuff, Cotton Bacon V2. I used the Cotton Bacon V2 in my Ijoy Combo SRDA and this Advken Doctor Coil Cotton in the Vandy Vape Pyro V2. After testing each using the same flavour E-Liquid and the same coils in both for 2 days, I then swapped the cottons around for the net 2 days so that I got a complete test using both cottons in both tanks for a full taste test. The result is as follows:

On inserting the 2 types of cotton, it's obvious that the Advken cotton is much easier the thread through a coil. That aglet is a great idea! Both cottons have a break in period where the first use has that "new" taste to it. That taste is not quite as bad with the Cotton Bacon as it is with the Advken, which has that "new" taste a little longer. Not much, maybe taking 5-10 minutes longer to settle in. After that though and both cottons began to produce the flavour just as you would expect.

Using both cottons in both tanks over 4 days, it became clear that the Advken cotton was matching the Cotton Bacon for flavour. I was more than surprised and very impressed indeed. So, all good then?

Err, not quite, no. I did have a slight issue with the Advken cotton with it keeping up with the wicking. What I mean by that is, on the first days usage the Pyro V2 kept almost giving a "dry hit" after taking 5-6 vapes. It wasn't an actual dry hit but you could feel or taste that there wasn't quite enough juice reaching the coil after having a series of vapes. I found after a few trials that a little "raking" of the cotton ends before inserting them into the juice well holes did the trick. Raking the cotton is a method of thinning out the ends a little. It can help wicks to soak up the E-Liquids easier, or quicker as in this instance. Now this could simply be down to the Advken cotton being a slightly thicker or more compacted cotton than the Cotton Bacon, especially as you peel off an amount of cotton you need from the Cotton Bacon pack. You're never going to peel off the exact same amount every time.

Whatever the reason for it, after getting the wicks right, both cottons gave excellent favour and once I had gotten used to the Advken cotton, it was easy to continue getting it right. Would I recommend the Advken Doctor Coil Cotton? Definitely. For the price, it's a bargain and I've got a nice little tub afterwards to store loose coils. Can't be bad eh?
